CROCKETT – The Crockett Bulldogs opened their non-district schedule this past Friday night at Monte Jack Driskell Stadium against the Buffalo Bison.  It was a perfect night for football and the stands filled for the first time with lines at the ticket booth  full of eager Bulldog fans waiting to see how this year’s team would square up.

The Bulldogs came into the game remembering a tough loss in their season opener last year where they stepped out to a 21 point lead only to lose 33-28 and they were determined to give a little payback.  The ball was controlled most of the night by the Bulldogs on both sides and the Bulldogs seem to have improved on the defensive side of the ball.

The opening score was by a Jordan Bedford Touchdown pass to Ty White and finished up the opening quarter 7-0.

Second quarter action opened with an interception by Demuntreon Bedford that the Bulldogs were able to capitalize on with a A’myron Dixon touchdown run to make it 13-0 ‘Dogs with 10:56 to go in the half.

The Bison answered with a touchdown pass, but it was immediately answered by a long touchdown run by Joseph Porter Jr., making it 20-7.  The Bulldogs quickly got the ball back and hit Allen Horace on a long pass and Dixon mopped up the rest for his second touchdown of the night.  The Bulldogs tacked on a field goal which ended the half, 30-14.

The Bulldogs opened up the second half with Christian Brice taking the opening kickoff to the house.  The score extended to 38-14 and the Bulldogs were content to play tough defense the rest of the night and cruised to a 44-21 victory.

Crockett will play the Garrison Bulldogs (who Crockett defeated last year 34-20) this Friday night at Monte Jack Driskell Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
