Alton Aaron Gilbert

Alton Aaron Gilbert, age 66, of Crockett, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 in the Crockett Medical Center.  He was born January 17, 1953 in Crockett to parents, Boyce Gilbert and Billie Gibson Gilbert.  Alton was a painting contractor for many, many years and always had a long waiting list of clients.   He was an avid fisherman and hunter with fishing being his passion.   Alton was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and loved his Sunday School class members.  He was a “people person” and never met a stranger always having time to visit and pray with people which showed in his last evening on earth Tuesday, delivering meals to the homebound.  Alton attended the Central Baptist Church.  Most of all, he loved his Lord and his family.

Alton was survived by his wife of 32 years, Tammy Gilbert of Crockett; son, Bradley Gilbert of Nacogdoches; mother, Billie Gilbert of Crockett; brothers, Larry Gilbert and wife, Debby of Crockett, Ricky Gilbert and wife, Julie of Pasadena, Clifton Gilbert and wife, Felecia of Pasadena; sisters, Betty Lewis and husband, Richard of Chandler, Tina Stevens of Harwood; mother-in-law, Peggy Bain of Centerville; brothers-in-law, Donald Bain and wife, Dannette of Centerville, Greg Bain of Centerville; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.  He is preceded in death by his father, Boyce Gilbert; father-in-law, John Bain; brother-in-law, John (Buddy) Bain.

Funeral services for Alton Aaron Gilbert were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019 in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel.  Interment followed in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Centerville.  Family received friends for visitation Friday evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
