Edward Cleon Grounds, Sr.

Services for Edward Cleon Grounds, Sr. age 92 of Grapeland were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Felders Chapel Assembly of God Church with Rev. Randy Shipman officiating. Burial followed in San Pedro Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Grounds passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019 at his residence.

He was born October 17, 1926 in Latexo, Texas to Wilson A. and Lou Ella Fulmer Grounds.

He was a member of the Felders Chapel Assembly of God Church. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1945 and honorably discharged in 1954. He served two years active duty and the remaining time in reserves. He worked in the construction business and later became a building inspector.

Mr. Grounds was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Maria Elena Taule Grounds in 2014.

He is survived by his daughter Linda Strathdee and husband Kevin of Tyler, a son Ed Grounds, Jr. and wife Cindy of Oakwood, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Ed Grounds, Jr., Tim Grounds, Stacy Jackson, Braden Jackson, Jordan Buis, and Gerald Barnhart. Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Corporal Cody Jackson and Derald Overturff.

A visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Bailey & Foster Funeral Chapel in Grapeland.
