Dorothy Mae Dupree

Dorothy Mae Dupree was born to Sam and Lorena Dupree on July 31, 1936.

From a young age, Dorothy loved attending church and gave her life to Christ. Later she became a licensed missionary and continued her commitment to God by spreading his holy word.  She was a faithful member of the Church of the Living God (Pastor John L. McKnight).

Dorothy received her wings on February 14, 2019, when she made her transition to her heavenly home. She is now united again with her husband Major Johnson, Jr. and twin brother, Donald Dupree.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Lorena Dupree; (2) brothers, Albert Hoover, and Sam Arnold; (1) sister, Fannie Hart; (1) grandson, Napoleon Beazley; and (1) great-great-granddaughter, London Marshall.

She leaves to continue her legacy: (1) sister, Mary (Charles) Dawson of Grapeland; (5) daughters, Janie Rodgriguez of Lufkin, Rena (Ireland) Beazley of Grapeland, Dorothy Cook of Grapeland, Shawna (Sammy) Dupree of Crockett, and Cherry Dupree of Grapeland; (2) sons, Danny (Loretta) Dupree of Groesbeck and John Dupree of San Angelo; (2) goddaughters, Cathy Fobbs, and Gwen Fobbs both of Crockett; (2) close friends, Beverly Kennie of Austin and Carlota Guitierrez of Crockett; (25) grandchildren, (30) great-grandchildren, (1) great-great-grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Services for Mrs. Dupree were held Saturday, Feb 23, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Rising Star Baptist Church. Interment followed at Golden Gate Cemetery, Grapeland, TX under the direction of Walker & Walker Funeral Home.
