Grapeland FFA Attends State Convention

Special to The Messenger

GRAPELAND – The Grapeland FFA attended the State FFA Convention July 9 – 13. The convention was held in Fort Worth this year.

Six members received their State FFA Degree, the highest award given at the State level. Less than five percent of the members receive this award each year.

Those receiving their State degree from Grapeland were: D’angelo Colter; Taylor Pennington; Amy Crook; J.D. Martin; Callie Richburg; and Madelyn Conner.

Grapeland FFA also received the bronze award in the Golden Horizon Award, a statewide chapter ranking award.

Members attended leadership workshops, heard motivational speeches from guest speakers and retiring state officers, elected a new state officer team for 2018-19, and had the opportunity to visit with colleges and universities as well as businesses in the exhibit area.

Grapeland’s new officer team for this year also had some time to plan activities for the coming year. It was a great convention and we’re looking forward to being in Fort Worth next year.

Other members attending were: Cayden LeBlanc; Keke Harris; Alyssa Dilli; Preslie Reynolds; and Bryan Perez. They were accompanied by FFA Advisors Gary Graham and Shellee Goolsby as well as Bessie Graham and Erika Watson.
