Timothy Wyndall Ham

Timothy Wyndall Ham, 64, passed from this world on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. Tim was born to Grover and Bobbie Ham on August 14, 1953. Tim was born and raised in Lovelady, Texas and lived most of his adult life there. He graduated from Lovelady High School in 1972 where he played football, baseball and played in the band.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, field archery competition and playing in local softball leagues in his early adult years and became an avid golfer later in his life. Not only was he a devoted lifetime Houston Astros fan, he made many adventurous motorcycle trips throughout the United States, attended and competed in numerous classic car shows and was a member of the Davy Crockett Classic Cruisers.

After attending Sam Houston State University, he went to work for Texas Instruments in Houston.

In 1975, Tim graduated from the Houston Fire Academy and served as a firefighter for the city of Houston until he retired as a Captain in 2004. He worked at several fire stations throughout Houston, but served as Captain for 11 ½ years at Station 30 where he was respected and loved by his crew and fellow firefighters.

Tim served as Fire Chief for the Lovelady Volunteer Fire Department from 1987 to 2008. During his years as Chief, he worked alongside other fire fighters to improve many aspects of the department. Tim was instrumental in helping establish the First Responders and lobbying for the passage of the ESD. He knew the importance of a good fire department and First Responders Service for his community and worked for 22 years toward those goals.

Tim was blessed with two sons. His oldest, Brad Michael, died in 1991 at the age of 17. Tim’s youngest son, Luke Alan, is presently serving as a Master Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and based in San Diego, California. Luke and his wife, April, gave Tim three beautiful grandchildren-Kellan, Sarah and Sullivan.

Tim and his wife, Mary Ann, had unforgettable RV and motorcycle adventures during their years together. Tim will be greatly missed not only by his family, but by a host of faithful friends whom he loved dearly.

Tim is preceded in death by his son, Brad Michael Ham and his father, Grover Wyn Ham. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Ham of Lovelady; mother, Bobbie Price Ham of Lovelady; son, Luke Ham and wife, April of Lovelady; step-daughter, Lauren Schaubhut of Seattle, Washington; brother, Nathan Ham and wife, Shannon of Lovelady; grandsons, Kellan Ham and Sullivan Ham of Lovelady; granddaughter, Sarah Ham of Lovelady; nieces, Kelli Ham of Austin and Heather and husband, Efrain Zamora, and children, Grant Zamora and Lorelai Zamora of Huffman.

Funeral services for Timothy Wyndall Ham were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018 in the Lovelady Old Gym. Interment followed in the Lovelady Evergreen Cemetery. Family received friends Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
