CROCKETT – The time of year for spring cleaning has rolled around again, and the Crockett Area Chamber of Commerce is providing a perfect opportunity for local residents to rid themselves of unwanted clutter.

The chamber will be hosting its third annual Spring Cleaning Garage Sale, a two-day event scheduled to take place Friday and Saturday, April 13-14 at the Crockett Civic Center, located at 1100 Edmiston Dr. in Crockett.

“It’s going to start at 8 a.m. Friday morning,” explained Jeannie Julian, Executive Director of the Crockett Area Chamber of Commerce. “We’ll be inside and outside the the civic center.”

Those interested in selling items will have the opportunity to set up their booth beginning Thursday and carrying on into Friday.

“One-day rental is $20 for a chamber member (and) $30 for non-members,” Julian said in terms of the cost of renting booth space for the sale. “If you do the two-day rental, it’s $25 for chamber members and $35 for non-members.”

Each booth, Julian said, is 10×10.

According to Julian, vendors are not limited to selling items typically found at average garage sales. New items are also welcome, as well as other categories such as crafts.

“We have a vendor who always comes and sets up and sales handmade jewelry,” Julian divulged. “We just had a lady call to sell make-up. We have a variety of stuff. It’s not all garage sale (items).”

Julian said the chamber will be hosting a booth of its own during this year’s sale.

“Right now, we have a wagon that’s going to be set up in the parking lot; somebody’s selling out of her wagon,” added Julian.

Sellers interested in peddling their goods in outdoor spaces are encouraged to load everything onto trailers and trucks.

“We like to see trucks and trailers in the parking lot,” Julian said. “People look for them when they turn in. It’s very easy to put everything you want to sell on the trailer, and you just pull your truck through the two parking spaces there.”

Such spaces, Julian assured, are set up to allow plenty of room for shoppers to easily navigate through the parking lot.

Julian estimated that 25-30 vendors have participated in past sales. Popular items in previous years proved to be children’s clothes and handmade potholders.

“We just love to have vendors and lookers,” said Julian.
