GRAPELAND – After quite a few years without one, the Grapeland Sandiettes have now laid claim to their second consecutive district championship following their 78-23 win over the Latexo Lady Tigers.

The Lady Tigers didn’t fare any better in the second quarter as the Sandiettes limited Latexo to four free throws from Kelsey Patterson.

Meanwhile, the Sandiettes continued to push the ball up court and dropped another 19 on Latexo to bring the halftime lead to 42-6.

For the second quarter in a row, Woods went for eight, Jones added four and R. Bowie connected from behind the arc. McKnight had two and was joined by Gracie Conner who broke into the scoring column with a two of her own.

The second half was somewhat better for the Lady Tigers as both Granberry and Patterson scored for Latexo. Granberry had five and Patterson had four in the third.

After the break, the Sandiettes began to milk the clock and substitute liberally. Jones had four of Grapeland’s 17 points in the third while Mary Jane Watson connected from downtown. R. Bowie, T. Bowie, KeKe Harris, McKnight and Woods all had two points to make the score 59-15 after three periods of play.

As the game moved into the final period of play, Patterson scored five for the Lady Tigers while Granberry added three.

The Sandiettes were paced T. Bowie, Chipman and McKnight – all with four. Aeriannia Granderson dropped in a three while both R. Bowie and Watson had two which made the final score 78-23.
