Billy Ray Duren

Billy Ray Duren, age 82, of Belott went to be with his Lord and Savior New Year’s Eve night , December 31, 2017, at his home. He was born May 20, 1935 in Belott to parents, Will Ike Duren and Verna Marie Thames Duren. He was employed by Marathon in Houston for many years before moving to Crockett where he worked for fifteen years for Houston County, eight of those years he served as commissioner for precinct four. He was a fifty year member of the Lothrop Masonic Lodge #21 AF&AM and also was a member of the Center Hill Methodist Church for many years.
Billy Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Will Ike and Verna Duren; and brother, Thomas J. Duren. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-four years, Sheila Black Duren of Belott; daughters, Cynthia Dodd and husband, Ted of Borger, Debbie King and husband, James of Willis; grandchildren, Lisa Simmons and husband, Justin, Jaimee Jordan and husband, Nate, Justin Dodd and wife, Angie, Kristin Griswold and husband, Garret, Kirstin Dodd-Schubert and husband, Brandon; twelve great-grandchildren; sister, Alma Sue Eskue and husband, Jerry of Houston County Lake; special friend, Judy Reynolds of Ratcliff; numerous other family and friends are left to treasure his memory.
Funeral services for Billy Ray Duren will be held Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Michael Harris officiating. Interment to follow in New Energy Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lothrop Masonic Lodge #21 AF & AM, P.O.
