Hornes Named City Manager

Special to The Messenger

PALESTINE – The Palestine City Council announced Monday that Assistant City Manager Michael Hornes will be the next City Manager for the City of Palestine.

Hornes takes over for Mike Alexander, who separated from the city earlier in September.
“I am honored and humbled by the councils decision,” Hornes said. “This city has come a long way with Mike

Alexander, and there is much still to be completed.”

Hornes started working for the City of Palestine in 2013 as a GIS analyst. During that time, he has also served as a Deputy Director of Public Works and, in November 2016, as Assistant City Manager. Previously, he has served the city of Lubbock and the city of New York. He holds a Masters in Public Administration from Texas Tech.

Alexander, who served the city as an interim Police Chief and City Manager, will be a training facilitator for the city on a contract basis for the next fiscal year.
