Mitchell Ray Woods

Mitchell Ray Woods, age 67, of Grapeland passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at his residence.  Mitchell was born January 28, 1950 to parents, Charles Woods and Gloria Mae Oliver Woods.  He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War with Military Honors and was a member of the American Legion.  Mitchell was a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboy’s Association for over 20 years competing in Bareback Riding, Bulldogging and Roping and had been a horse farrier for 20 years.  He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nita Woods of Grapeland; sister, Jeannie Zahariades and husband, Tony of Montgomery; sisters-in-law, Stephanie Smith of Lufkin, Kayla Williamson of Nacogdoches; brothers-in-law, Clifton Smith and wife, Patricia of Apple Springs, Roger Smith of Pennington, Kenny Smith of Pennington; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Gloria Woods; son, Cy Woods and sister, Sue Brown.  Funeral services for Mitchell Ray Woods was held Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the Callaway-Allee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ottis Byers officiating.  Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park.  Family will receive friends for visitation Saturday from 12 noon until service time.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tradition’s Hospice, 1210 E. Houston Avenue, Crockett, TX  75835.  Arrangements were under the direction of Callaway-Allee Funeral Home.
