The Piney Woods Leo Club travelled to the Lakeview Methodist Conference Center on Saturday, Nov. 12, to participate in the Challenge Course.

This opportunity was made possible through the hard work of the Leos during the annual Crockett Lions Club PRCA Rodeo in May. They completed the 3-hour Team Challenge Course (the low portion of the course) in the morning. These activities range from ground level to about three feet and focus on team building, communication and listening skills, cooperation, perseverance, and trust. They participated in the 3-hour ROPES Challenge course (the high portion of the course) in the afternoon. This program offers individuals the opportunity to push themselves beyond their comfort level in a supportive group setting.

There were 11 Leos participating this year, and the weather was much more comfortable than our trip last year in September! They worked very well together, and had fun working through the many challenges. It was great watching them switch from being supportive followers to leading throughout each event.

The ROPES Program Director sent the Leos a letter following the event. He genuinely enjoyed working with the Leos, and said “remember to keep in mind how effective we were as a group when we were patient!” For more information on the Leo club contact club advisor Ellen Brooks at (936)545-0348 or feel free to attend any of the Leos meetings which are held on the first Sunday of each month from 4-5 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Crockett. The next meeting will be held on Jan. 9.
