Making Sense Of Linsanity

In the Lintrest of time I’ll go ahead and talk about the man, the myth, the legend. Jeremy Lin. Linsanity has taken the NBA and country by storm in recent weeks. Jeremy Lin was not recruited out of high school, where he led his team to a 32-1 record, and a state championship in California. He enrolled at Harvard, and walked on to the basketball team there. Let me repeat that, he enrolled as a student, not as an athlete. This kid has some serious brainpower.
He helped lead the Crimson to new heights athletically, as they are now ranked inside the top 25 for the first time in years, with a lot of credit due to Lin. Lin goes undrafted in the NBA and spends some time in the NBA D-League. From there he ends up on the Golden State Warriors, but doesn’t see much playing time and he is cut from the team.
After that he ends up on the Houston Rockets roster, but after a major trade was vetoed by NBA Commissioner David Stern, the Rockets had too many guards on their roster, and it was Lin that got the pink slip. Fast forward to when he was signed by the New York Knicks. Lin spent a lot of time sitting the bench before a rash of injuries and less than stellar play had the Knicks Head Coach Mike D’Antoni put the guard into the lineup as a last ditch effort to turn things around.
Since then the Knicks are7-0 and Linsanity has been born. This is a guy that was living on his brothers couch because he didn’t have a guaranteed contract, and was a day-by-day decision by the Knicks management. Now he is the hottest topic in a league that features Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durrant, and LeBron James.
This kid makes it look like he is playing Super Lintendo when he is out there on the court. It is ridiculous watching him play, and the fever he has spiked around the league. It is like the NBA has been injected with Linicillin and is now Linfected with Linsanity. It is one league, Lindivisible. There are tons of puns featuring his name, because of the Linsane reaction to his play.
Even other NBA players are getting into the fray. I don’t blame them. This is an undrafted free agent that is playing on the biggest stage in the NBA and he just keeps Linning. Right now Jeremy Lin is doing things in the NBA that nobody else has done. He has scored more points, dished out more assists, and unfortunately given up more turnovers than anyone else during this seven-game stretch.
I am by no means a New York Knicks fan, but when they are Linning, it is absolutely the best thing for the league. The Linterest around the league is astronomical right now. Everyone wants to get a peak of Linsanity. It was Lin’s heroics on VanLINtines day that kept the Knicks winning streak going on a three-pointer just before the buzzer went off.
All over the league there are executives saying “How did we miss this guy?” In the college ranks it is more of the same thing. Lin went to high school in Palo Alto, across the street from Stanford. The same Stanford that Tiger Woods and a current quarterback named Andrew Luck is attending.
Now Lin is the biggest name in the LINBA. He has hijacked a league that was sputtering since coming out of their lockout. All we can hope for is that this Linsanity doesn’t die down, and Lin we can see some more Lintastic basketball.
