Letter to the Editor:

I write to share what happened near midnight last Sunday night outside the entrance gate to Treetops-in-the-Forest in Ratcliff.

The car, loaded with groceries enough for 22 kids from Tyler for a week’s stay, stalled outside the gate (which was over ½ mile from the house). It was pitch black and attempts to walk the drive kept leading me into the bushes on either side.

Finally, when I decided to get back on the forest road and walk a mile or more to a neighbor’s to use the phone for help, a truck came along and an angel described as a teenager named Cody Collinsworth, stopped to ask if I needed help.

He then charged the battery, helped me get the car to the back of the house, unload the groceries and carry them in, changed a light bulb, and asked if there was anything else I needed help with.

I AM WRITING SO THAT HOUSTON COUNTY WILL KNOW ANOTHER OF ITS REMARKABLE YOUNG PEOPLE. …PERHAPS THE GREATEST ASSET A COMMUNITY CAN HAVE!

Sincerely,

Christine Kallstrom
