Irish Trio To Jingle In Crockett Saturday
CROCKETT - Just in time for the holidays, the Celtic Tenors are ready to capture the peace and joy of the season.
The Irish trio will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Crockett Civic Center.
Saturday night’s show is sponsored by Cutshaw Chevrolet and Palestine Regional Medical Center and hosted by the Piney Woods Fine Arts Association (PWFAA).
“These internationally acclaimed, chart-topping recording artists will present to you some of the world’s greatest holiday songs, wrapped in the inimitable Celtic Tenor sound,” a press release from PWFAA stated.
According to the group’s website, each member has been influenced by musical traditions from their individual part of Ireland and are also able to blend their voices to genres ranging from classical, folk, Irish and pop.
“The “Echo Award” in Germany for “Classical without Boundaries” was presented to The Celtic Tenors in recognition of this fact,” their site states.
Following an impromptu audition for EMI Records in 2000, the Celtic Tenors were immediately signed for an international record deal.
Today, the group is comprised of James Nelson, of Sligo, Ireland, Matthew Gilsenan, of North Meath, Ireland, and Daryl Simpson, of Omagh, Ireland. They are led by Musical Director Colm Rogan, on the piano.
Their accomplishments include performances across the globe, singing leading roles in top opera companies and concert appearances with Dionne Warwick, Air Supply, the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Concert Orchestra.
The PWFFA hails their performance in Crockett as a show for all ages- mixing season and spiritual favorites, favorite songs from their albums and classical, Celtic and pop music- with ‘high tenor show-stoppers’ and ‘intimate a capella masterpieces.’
“Singing at times in their own native Gaelic, as well as several other languages, the truly international Celtic Tenors holiday show promises to warm the heart,” the PWFFA press release stated.
Reserved seats for Celtic Tenors start at $27. For ticket reservations, call 936-544-4276 or visit www.pwfaa.org.
