HENRY W. TOMPKINS, III
Graveside services for Henry W. Tompkins, III, 66, Athens were scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the Kerens Cemetery pavilion with Greg Olsen officiating.
Mr. Tompkins died Jan. 29, 2012 in Tyler.
He was born Feb. 20, 1945 in Murchison to the late Henry Worth Tompkins, Jr. and Gracie Marie Saxon Tompkins. Henry was reared in Grapeland where he graduated from Grapeland High School. He then attended Henderson County Junior College two years. Henry began his career life at Nipak in Trinidad then later worked for Jim Malone Oil Field Service. For the last 20 plus years, he was employed at Ensearch (now XTO Energy) as an inspector. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by granddaughter Alissa Anton in 1981.
Survivors include wife of 27 years Terri Cossey Tompkins, Athens, sons Bryan Tompkins, Mabank, Chase Tompkins, Tyler, daughter Gina Tompkins Anton and husband Paul, Athens, brother Phil Tompkins and wife Martha, Pearland, sister Becky Jackson and husband Jimmy, Virginia Beach, Va., grandchildren Justin and Chloe Anton, Tanner and Taylor Tompkins.
Pallbearers were Chase Tompkins, Tanner Tompkins, Paul Anton, Justin Anton, Alex Hammac, Jerry Lansdale, Bryan Tompkins and Stan Braden.
