THURSDAY, JAN. 19 - Grapeland Economic & Development Corporation will hold a public hearing on Jan. 19, at 6 p.m. in the Grapeland City Office for the purpose of considering final payment in the amount of $4,000 to Jack Patton’s Grapeland Fuel and Barbeque.

SATURDAY, JAN. 21 - Percilla Community Church of Grapeland, TX is honored to introduce to Grapeland Dr. Rob Starner who is a Professor of Greek and New Testament Theology at S.W. Assembly of God Seminary at Waxahachie, Texas. On January 21 at 7 p.m., in the Lorena Schoultz Auditorium, at Grapeland High School, Dr. Starner will present and dramatize: “Joseph of Arimethia.” The admission is free. SATURDAY, JAN. 21 - The Kennard Lions Club will be hosting a 42 Tournament at the Ratcliff Senior Center on Saturday, Jan. 21. SATURDAY, JAN. 21 – The semi-annual Winter Music Program at the Little White Church in Grapeland beginning at 7 p.m. with Hwy. 19 and Tin Top Road Bluegrass. Free admission, but an opportunity to participate in a major fundraising event for the preservation of the First Christian Church Memorial Building. Refreshments and fellowship afterward. SATURDAY, JAN. 21 - The Annual Elkhart Baseball Chili Cook-Off, Supper and Auction will be Saturday, Jan. 21 at the KC Hall in Palestine, beginning at 6 p.m. Silent auction begins at 6 p.m., auction begins at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $7. SUNDAY, JAN. 22 - A Youth Taco Fundraiser Lunch will follow the morning service Sunday, Jan. 22 at Elkhart First Baptist Church. Cost is by donations only and proceeds will help with youth summer camp expenses. Everyone is invited to stay for great food and fellowship as we support our youth program.

SUNDAY, JAN. 29 - First Baptist Church, Elkhart invited everyone to join us for a special evening of encouragement and fellowship on Sunday, Jan. 29. New movie “Courageous” will be shown - free event that will be enjoyed by all ages (from the creators of “Fireproof). FRIDAY, FEB. 3 - Ross Activity Center’s First Friday Dance will be held Friday, Feb. 3 at the Rusk Civic Center, 555 Euclid St., in Rusk. Admission is $5 a person. Doors open at 6 p.m.; dancing starts at 7 p.m. Caddo Creek classic country band will provide music. Patrons are welcome to bring snacks and finger foods to share. Nonalcoholic beverages will be available. Dances are sponsored by Friends of Singletary Memorial Library, Senior Care of Jacksonville, the city of Rusk and JP Auto. Proceeds benefit the Friends group and the Ross Activity Center.

WEDNESDAY, FEB. 15 - An AARP Driver’s Safety class will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Ross Activity Center, 555 Euclid St., Rusk. Curriculum will feature issues drivers aged 55 and over may face. Participants who successfully complete the class could receive up to 10 off their auto insurance. Area Agency on Aging Benefits Counselor Sharon O’Maley is available to assist senior citizens with Medicare benefits applications at the Ross Senior Activity Center, inside the Rusk Civic Center, 555 Euclid St., in Rusk. EVERY THIRD MONDAY OF THE MONTH - The Texas A & M Mother’s Club (or the Aggie Mom’s Club) meets every third Monday of the month from September through May during the school year. We welcome any and all Aggie parents, family members, ex-Aggies, and Aggie fans. The meetings are held at the Houston County Electric Co-op building at 6:30 p.m. Please join us in helping to support our local TAMU students. We look forward to seeing you at the meeting.

EVERY MONDAY, TUESDAY & THURSDAY - Low impact aerobics classes are held every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Rusk Civic Center, 555 Euclid St., in Rusk. Classes are free. Richard Simmons and the Silver Foxes and other exercise videos will be featured.

EVERY TUESDAY AND THURSDAY - The Ross Activity Center offers Hand and Foot games at noon on Tuesdays and domino games at noon on Thursdays. Both games are free. Refreshments are provided. The Activity Center is located in the Rusk Civic Center, 555 Euclid St., in Rusk.

EVERY TUESDAY - “Tuesday Stitchers” meet at the Grapeland Senior Citizen Center from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. for all kinds of stitching and fellowship. Someone is on hand to offer instructions for most kinds of handwork. Anyone is welcome.

SECOND TUESDAY – The Latexo 4-H meets the second Tuesday of every month at the Wilcox Community Center in Latexo. Meeting time is 6 p.m. Anyone interested in joining can call 544-0082.

EVERY SECOND WEDNESDAY - The Christian Women’s Connection of Crockett now meets at the Houston County Elec. Co-op Room - Loop 304 SE, Crockett, for their luncheon and program. All ladies are invited. Call Shirley at (936) 544-9013 for reservations.

EVERY MONDAY - Tai Chi classes are held at the Grapeland Senior Center, each Monday evening, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Instructor Norm Ennis begins exercises promptly at 7 p.m. and ends exercises promptly at 8 p.m. Everyone is asked to arrive early and sign in. MONTHLY EVENT - The Crockett 4-H Club meets every second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of the Houston County Electric Co-op. Call 936-544-7552 for more information.

FIRST MONDAY - The Homestead 4-H Club meets every first Monday of the month at 6 p.m. in the old fellowship hall of the Crockett Methodist Church. Call 936-544-5967 for more info.

MONTHLY EVENT - VFW Post 134 in Crockett holds bingo games from 6-10 p.m. every Tuesday and from 2 to 6 p.m. every Sunday at the VFW. Everyone is welcome.
