The Friends of the Palestine Public Library will hold its annual meeting Thursday, Feb. 16, at 6 p.m. at Ben E. Keith, 2019 West Oak, in Palestine. The Friends support the library by raising funds through projects like quarterly book sales and membership drives.

Love, if one is Christian, is demanded by God. He set forth the example by sacrificing His only Son, who was sinless to cover our sins if we choose to accept that.

His Son could have refused to do that, but out of Love sacrificed his own life to unable us to obtain salvation for eternity. So one can say that “Love is an act of sacrifice for the benefit of the recipient.” Scripture also teaches to “love thy neighbor as thy self.”

The Major Jarrell Beasley Chapter NSDAR is for the first time, offering a $500 college scholarship to a graduating senior. Thus far, there have been no applications submitted! Seniors, if you’re going to college, and would like to be considered for this scholarship, please see your high school counselor to get an application form. The deadline is Feb. 15.
