Obituaries

Mr. Henry Richardson Miller III, age 90, of Deer Park, passed away Feb. 14, 2012 in Deer Park. Mr. Miller was born Aug. 29, 1921 in Plainview, Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during World War II. Mr. Miller was a retired baker.

Mrs. Lou Ella Buckner, age 91, of Kennard, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012 in Houston. She was born Jan. 6, 1921 in Oak Grove, La. and was a resident of Kennard for the past 30 years. Mrs. Buckner was a housewife and a member of the Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

 

Mr. Neil Johnson, age 80, of Crockett, passed away Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 in the East Texas Medical Center-Crockett. He was born Nov. 17, 1931 in Kennard and had lived most of his lifetime in Crockett. Mr. Johnson was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was retired owner and operator of Johnson Saw and Lawn Mower Shop in Crockett. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Arkansas.

 

Memorial services for John (Johnny) Robert Goff age 50 of Jackson, MS. and formerly of Grapeland were held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at New Hope Baptist Church in Grapeland. Burial was in Denson Cemetery. Bailey & Foster were in charge of the arrangements.

Graveside services for Henry W. Tompkins, III, 66, Athens were scheduled for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the Kerens Cemetery pavilion with Greg Olsen officiating.

 

Mr. George Perry “Perk” Hallmark, age 71, of Kennard, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012 in the Hospice in the Pines Inpatient Unit in Lufkin. He was born Aug. 25, 1940 in Arbor and had lived in Kennard. Mr. Hallmark was a veteran of the United States Army. He was member of the Shady Grove Baptist Church where he served on the board of trustees. Mr. Hallmark was retired having worked as a design engineer for Cameron Iron Works for 30 years.

Mr. B. L. Peterson, Jr., age 80, of Crockett, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012 at his residence. He was born Oct. 12, 1931 in Cypress, Texas and was a resident of Crockett for the past 43 years. Mr. Peterson was a retired third generation dairy farmer and member of the Central Baptist Church in Crockett where he served as deacon.
